| You don't need splitters. Some TV's have an AV output. Which outputs the channel you are on. The TV I'm using at the moment has one. But I use the splitters anyways cause if I want to have the sound playing from the computer I can.
Splitters are inexpensive, I got 3 of em for like less than €2 each. Also I have loads of cables. I have a AV sound to microphone jack(for playin sound on computer) I have AV to AV cables(Composite to Composite) Microphone to Microphone
Each of these cables are handy for recording. Plus if you record the sound through the microphone, you can record the sound with a sound recorder and not through the video capture software. This will reduce the strain on CPU, but makes it more awkward.
Also for video capture software I recommend virtual dub because it records uncompressed video unlike windows movie make etc But you can add any compressors you want. I recommend Huffyuv because it is a lossless codec(no sound loss) It'll reduce like a 10 minute 30gb(Uncompressed video) to about 5-10gb with no quality loss.
Also virtualdub is a fast video editor with many options for editing your video, but not to add things like captions more like to edit the sound postion, sync the sound, compress video and audio. Believe me it's fast. The recommended specs are and old Pentium 4 @1.60. So even my computer can record videos with no problem(just as long I remove the preview when recording) | |

| that helps alot, but sadly the money involved (and let alone the resources needed) are way out of my reach. All I can do right now is just get what I can and make do with it | |
